Dear Music Families,
Welcome to what promises to be another great year of music at Brown. We are fortunate to have a vibrant music program at the middle school level. This year we have over 270 students participating in our choirs and instrumental groups:

* 6th Grade Band (Concert Band) & 7th-8th Grade (Wind Ensemble), directed by Laurie Wadsworth
* 6th Grade Chorus (Melody Makers) & 7th-8th Grade Chorus (Redwood Singers), directed By
Carlton Doctor
* Jazz Band, directed by Geoffrey Wadsworth, meets Thursdays after school from 3-4:15pm
* A Cappella vocal group (Brown Tones), directed by Carlton Doctor,meets Thursday mornings
before school at 7:45am
How Can You Help? It's Easy!
* Chaperone a pre-concert warm-up
* Be an usher before a concert
* Be a monitor during a concert
* Help host, set up or clean up a post-concert reception
* Chaperone a band or chorus field trip
* Donate to the Brown Music Fund (use the new Pay Pal link at the bottom of this page)
Please let us know if you'd like to volunteer. Volunteers must have a CORI form approved in the last three years on file in the Brown main office. The CORI Request Form must be submitted in person at the Brown front office with a Picture ID. Click on the link above to go to CORI Form or Parent Volunteer Form.
We Need Your Help!
Brown's music program relies on the support of our parent community, both financial and practical, this year more than ever. In previous years, thanks to your generosity, the Music Committee - which is responsible for fundraising for the school music ensembles - has been able to purchase sheet music, instruments and microphones, as well as hosting post-concert receptions. This year, we are hoping to raise even more funds to purchase a much-needed spotlight for the auditorium, a cello for the orchestra, and a baritone saxophone for the band. Please consider making a contribution to the school's music program! Your funding is extremely important. You can make a donation in cash, or by check made out to the Brown PTO (write "Brown Music Fund" in the memo). We will collect donations before and after student concerts, or you can click on the Donate button below to make a donation to the Brown Music Fund via Pay Pal. In addition, this year, we held a raffle to raise funds for the music teachers' special wish list purchases.
The Brown Music Committee and music teachers welcome your participation. Please feel free to contact any of us if you have questions. Click on our name for our E-mail address.
See our Photo Gallery of our events.
Sincerely,
Mary Borenstein, Susan Nesson
